I know I haven’t been updating this blog lately. It started because of the Christmas holidays and all the craziness that entails. Then I was feeling so consistently good, I didn’t feel the need for it either.

But I accidentally re-ordered my Cynomel too late, had to go down to half a dose for a week and a half while I waited for more to arrive, and am still paying the price for the mistake 3 weeks later. I was actually due for a dosage raise anyway, which I’ll most likely be implementing today – but I’m not sure how long it will take for me to get back to feeling as good as I was before this happened.

But I wanted to share something that has worked for me twice now so that hopefully I won’t forget the next time this happens…

Lessons Learned:
-A high cortisol symptom for me is mind and heart racing when lying down to sleep and the inability to fall asleep for an hour, plus.
-When I get stuck in a phase where I can’t sleep all the way through the night, if I increase my HC dose by 2.5mg for a day or two and then drop back down to the previous dose, it fixes the issue and I can sleep normally again.

12/18/09

Good:
-Slept well and was able to go back to sleep after waking up at 5:00 and 6:20!
-Had the energy to dust and vacuum the house and tidy up around the house.
-Had a libido.

Bad:
-Had to take a nap around noon.
-Crashed around 4pm and spent the rest of the evening watching movies.
-Tried to go to bed early, but couldn’t fall asleep.

12/17/09

Good:
-Slept well apart from waking too early again.
-Had the energy to rush up to my brother’s house to help babysit his daughter while he and his wife were in the hospital. Stayed for almost 12 hours.

Experiments:
-Will take an extra 2.5mg HC at bedtime tonight (for a total of 30mg) to see if that helps me sleep later.

12/16/09

Good:
-Slept great through the night…just still waking up a bit early. May need to adjust cortisol.
-Had the energy to run a couple of errands, wrap a few presents, scan some photos, shop for towels, go out to dinner and then go out to a movie with friends.

Bad:
-Crashed a bit in the early afternoon and had to drink something caffeinated.

12/15/09

Good:
-Had the energy to count my pills, clean the fish bowl, scan photos and take a walk.

Bad:
-Woke up with the alarm and couldn’t go back to sleep.
-Felt pretty tired most of the day. Motivation was low.
-Got very depressed in the evening.

Good:
-Slept well through the night – just woke a bit too early.
-Had the energy to run a couple of errands, ¬†clean the dog’s ears, upload and scan photos and play Rock Band.
